Amitabh Bachchan concern for women in sports

Amitabh Bachchan concern for women in sportsAmitabh Bachchan is presently in London shooting for Paa. In his free time he has been exploring London and also managed to experience a few matches of the ongoing Wimbeldon. But then post his viewing experience he has expressed his concern about the disparity between men and women in sports.

”The large silver golden cup for the men… the semi gold silver tray for the ladies. A disparity here as well, apart from the difference that their prize money entails. I believe a women group is working on the equal distribution of the prize money at tournaments.

But for those that continuously make themselves vocal on the disparity and make politically correct noises, let them know that this a manifestation of our age old history and tradition.

It may not be feasible to adhere to the sentiment that I have expressed.

But for those that scream and shout on the imbalance, that propagate equality for political gain, would they ever wish to take up this issue at all.. I would imagine not. Because… politically it may not suit them.” he writes updating his blog.

He further adds, “The charge would be that sport is an elitist occupation, certainly as far as its commercialism is concerned and there really is no space for the genuine deserving potentials.”

Amitabh Bachans remembers his encounter with MJ“It was around the mid 70’s that lightening struck and from it emerged Michael Jackson, singing, moving, dancing like he was from some other planet!” This is how Amitabh Bachchan describes Michael Jackson in his latest blog. Big B writes that he was mesmerized by Jacko's brilliance in both music and performance. He added that Michael's body moved like a wound up toy machine. Every conceivable action of rhythm and style was incorporated inside his diminutive form, without any blemish. Amitabh recalls his first encounter with the King of Pop when he had gone to US for treatment after suffering a life threatening injury while shooting Coolie. Jacko was touring all over America celebrating the success of his album Thriller. He and his brother Ajitabh brought tickets to one of his concerts in Jacksonville Florida and without any planning and hotel reservations landed up there. Big B say loitering all afternoon they found themselves in a huge football stadium.

Big B who had never experienced anything like this before quotes “Music tore our eardrums away and a blinding light from the stage on one end, accompanied by the most decibel led roar from 100,000 strong crowd got everyone on their feet again!! And that is how we remained for the next three hours!!” The superstar adds “Nothing was heard thence, nothing was seen thereafter, nothing but utter.. utter .. halucigenic madness !!”

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan doffs her hat to Royal Ascot

June 20, 2009 |15:18 | Aishwarya Rai Bachchan  By : Team X

Aishwarya-Rai-BachchanIt takes a lot to impress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, being who she is. But throw in a tradition that dates back to 1711, Her Royal Majesty,
horse carriages, millions of pounds worth of horseflesh thundering on the turf, and of course, hats, and she’s quite definitely impressed. “This is my first time at the Royal Ascot. I’ve heard so much about it,” she says. “Yes, I did get to see the royal procession. The Queen’s wearing a lovely colour, she has such a presence — you have to do a bow to that,” she adds.

Every summer, the Royal Ascot week marks the high point of England’s social season, a must do for anyone, who’s anyone. This year, Her Majesty turned up in shocking pink, setting what fashion pundits here are hailing as a trend — given that she’s in her 80s, that’s quite a feat. Ash herself, in her role as the global brand ambassador for Longines, is in silver grey Armani, topped with an enormous confection that is, yes, a hat. “I was a bit worried till I got my hat, one hears about outrageous hats people wear to Ascot,” she admits, “but I love mine. It’s so me,” she adds. The Royal Ascot is as much about hats as it is about horses, with betting on what the Queen will sport in the Royal Enclosure for her daily appearance keeping bookies as busy as the real gambling. It’s not Ladies Day, when outrageous hats traditionally rule the stands (this year had chocolate hats, marshmallow hats, MP expense hats...).
