Amitabh Bachchan: Patil Criticises: Maharashtra Home Minister R.R. Patil, in an oblique reference to megastar Amitabh Bachchan's remarks that the Mumbai Metro railway would invade his privacy, said it was unfortunate that people were upset by infrastructure projects that would make life easier for the people of the city. "Mumbai traffic is growing, travel conditions are worsening by the day... people spend four-five hours in commuting daily. We have to think of them," Patil told reporters in his office.

In his blog, Bachchan had expressed unhappiness over one of the proposed metro rail routes passing over his Pratiksha bungalow in the upscale Juhu area of western Mumbai.

Interestingly, this is Bhagat's third book which is getting a celluloid adaptation. Before this, 3 Idiots was based on Five Point Someone and Hello on One Night.

Amitabh Bachchan, who has mesmerised audiences nationwide, will be playing himself in a new movie. The actor will be playing Amitabh Bachchan himself in Karan Razdan's Bhatti on Chutti.The film stars Anupam Kher who is an obsessed fan of Bachchan.

In the first draft of the film, only the bungalow of Big B was supposed to be shown in the film. But as the film progressed, the makers became ambitious and wanted to get  Bachchan on-board. So director Karan Razdan and Anupam Kher got in touch with him. And he agreed.

Karan confirms, "Yes, Amitabh Bachchan is there in our film and he is playing himself. This film does celebrate his stardom and the iconic figure he has become. When we approached him for the film, we showed him the five minute cut of the film. And he was sweet enough to act in the film."

However, while shooting for the film, Karan came to know that Big B was impressed with the film. "When we came on the sets to shoot, he took me aside and told me.

That he was very impressed with the film. Andwhen an actor of his stature tells you something like that, it definitely boosts your morale. I guess he knew that our film's concept is something very new and that's the reason he agreed to endorse it," he says.

Apparently, Big B didn't take a single penny for making a special appearance in his film. "This is between us; Mr Bachchan and me. I don't think I should be talking about the remuneration part," he says. Anupam Kher plays the titular character who goes on holiday at the Lake District in London and gets entangled in.

Nikhil Dwivedi reminisces about a time when home viewing of newmovies was difficult. “It was before the DVD era, which also meant that if a movie left the hall there was no way to get your hands on it for a long time.

He says.So it was in his teenage years that he saw Deewar and fell in love with it instantly. “I loved Amitabh Bachchan in this movie, because of his flawless portrayal of angst and the simmering bitterness that characterises Vijay, the main protagonist.”

He applauds Salim-Javed for the incredible script and Yash Chopra’s groundbreaking direction. “My favourite scene in Deewar was at the dockyards where one of Vijay’s colleagues is killed off by goons.

He then goes on to say that from the next day onwards another coolie will refuse to pay, leading to the subsequent fight scene.” He feels that the scene brought out the confidence of the new Indian hero who was about to arrive on the Indian scene.

The expectations for Bollywood Film Raavan starring Abhishek and Aishwariya Rai Bachchan were high but the movie's success in the box office was pretty low.  Trade guru Taran Adarsh said, "The film (Hindi) opened to a weak response.

The figures have just come in this Monday morning. It has collected only 45% of what Kites and Raajneeti collected over the opening weekend. It has fared very average in the UK too.''  This is quite disappointing for the Bachchans since Abhi and Ash played the lead roles in the film.

Mani Ratnam’s Raavan has not done well in the northern part of the country while it is a huge hit in the South. But Amitabh Bachchan is not happy with the way Abhishek Bachchan’s character was handled on the editing table. He is upset with the editing of the character.

Amitabh wrote on his twitter account that many important scenes of Abhishek’s character Beera were chopped off and it created confusion among the audiences.

He wrote that all the visual heads were cut. What you see is a confused Beera with his expression. He was peeved that sad edition of the character has ruined the film and the role of Abhishek.

On the other side, the hero of the Tamil version of Raavan, Vikram as well as Santosh Sivan has defended Mani Ratnam. Santosh has said that everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Mani Ratnam’s much awaited ‘Raavan’, is very much on the verge of a huge release tomorrow the 18th of June, and there is a certain cloud of mystery regarding the actual story on which the movie has been based. Even though the general opinion going around is that it is loosely based on the epic Ramayana’, there is another buzz going around that it is actually a movie based on highlighting the darker emotions in humans, irrespective of whether the person is good or bad.

Sources reveal that it is actually Beera, or the character based on Raavan,played by Abhishek, the bad guy in the film, that the entire theme is based on. There is another buzz that it is Aishwarya’s character, Ragini, based on Sita’s character, who plays the main protagonist. It is this Ragini, who has shades of grey in her, and she turns the entire film’s story totally topsy-turvy.
