Karan Johar had a screening for the cast and crew of Tarun Mansukhani's Dostana at Yash Raj Studios on Tuesday night. The Bachchan family turned up in full force Amitabh, Jaya, Aishwarya, and Abhishek himself.

Also present were Bobby and Tania Deol, make-up guru, Mickey Contractor, Farah Khan and designers Aki Narula and Manish Malhotra. Though Ritiesh Deshmukh is not a part of the film he was invited as Karan's guest. Abhishek Bachchan says, "Yes I saw Dostana on Tuesday night and loved it. My family loved it as well."

JAYA BACHCHAN NOT TO PROMOTE DRONA - After her off the cuff remark about speaking in Hindi caused a nationwide stir, Jaya Bachchan has gone into a shell, the Mumbai Mirror tabloid reported. Quoting sources, the paper said Jaya was “emotionally upset” with the reaction her comment caused and was not keen on participating in any promotional activities for her forthcoming film “Drona”, which stars son Abhishek and is set for release in October.

"CARRY ON" IN BOLLYWOOD - The Carry On series of British films are probably the epitome of comedies for those who grew up in the seventies and eighties. And now an Indian production company is all set to produce Bollywood versions of the same. The first film, called "Carry on Pandu", stars Ranvir Shorey and Anupam Kher, the Mumbai Mirror tabloid reported.

Formerly Jaya Bhaduri, the actress' first film was directed by Satyajit Ray, when she was 15. Considered a powerhouse of talent, Jaya won great approval for her acting and ability to maintain her clean, girl-next-door image both on and off screen.

She took a long break from cinema following her marriage to Amitabh Bachchan, when her children Abhishek and Shweta were born, but returned to cinema in the early 1980s to star as one of the leading ladies in Yash Chopra's iconic film Silsila. She later moved on to playing "mother" roles in mainstream and independent cinema.

She is also a member of the Indian parliament and represents the Samajwadi Party. Jaya has two children. Abhishek Bachchan is an actor and married to Aishwarya Rai. Her daughter Shweta Nanda is married and lives in Delhi.

 The music of the much awaited fantasy adventure film Drona was launched on Saturday night. The movie stars Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Kay Kay Menon and Jaya Bachchan. The launch saw an emotional Jaya Bachchan and Abhishek talking about his new friend Salman Khan. Drona is a dream that childhood friends Goldie Behl and Abhishek Bachchan said they saw as kids and now that dream is finally on the silver screen.

"We were sitting in a corner sulking that our fathers have thrown us off the sets and that was when we said that when we grow up we will make a film. We will have sword fighting in it and then we will get to throw people off the set,” says Abhishek talking about the dream. It was not just a big moment for Abhishek but also an emotional one for mother Jaya Bachchan.

Apart from Abhishek’s kingly getup and eye-catching visuals another added attraction of the flick is the voice that precedes you to the exotic world of Drona played by Abhishek Bachchan. Yes, the voice is of Jaya Bachchan.

The director of the film, Goldie Behl explains, "Yes the voice does surprise but that was the intension. The world of Drona is made of certain elements and we wanted to unveil each one of them, one by one....And Jaya aunty does it beautifully."

Amitabh Bachchan has given his voiceover for many films but it’s a rare experience for Jaya Bachchan who for the first time is giving her voiceover for her son’s flick. After Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai, Drona will be Goldie's second film with best friend Abhishek.

There are many in the tinselville that share a bitter relationship with the Bachchan family. But one among their friends is bubbly Preity Zinta. She always shares a very lovely and meaningful relationship with the Bachchan family and her liaison with them became stronger and unbreakable with the unforgettable tour. Preity mingled quite well with the entire Bachchan family and one member whom she holds in high esteem is Jaya Bachchan.

She quips, "But my favourite is Jaya aunty. We bonded earlier during Kal Ho Naa Ho. At that that we had gotten really close. Now it's like old times again. Jaya Aunty is my favorite member of the Bachchan family. We get along so well."

During the tour, both the ladies had a gala time together. As both are shopping lovers, they ventured each and every shop purchasing their favorite items. Preity adores both Abhishek and Aishwarya and remarks her relationship with them is above professional terms. She does not share any ill feeling or any professional rivalry with them. Speaking about the relationship that she shares with Amitji, she says, "I knew I'd be comfortable with Amitji, Ash and Abhishek. I've always gotten along with them. I did the film The Last Lear with Amitji. And we had a blast.”

Jaya Bachchan's Rajya Sabha seat maybe in danger after she has been accused of concealing information at the time of filing her nomination but it seems the UP government may just help Jaya Bachchan bail out of trouble. Despite the recommendation to file criminal charges, so far Mayawati's government has not registered an FIR against Jaya Bachchan.

Principal Secretary of the UP Vidhan Sabha R P Pandey had recommended action against Jaya Bachchan after a complaint was filed with the Election Commission. Jaya Bachchan is accused of hiding facts while filing her nomination papers for the 2006 Rajya Sabha by election. The complaint says Jaya Bachchan's nomination papers mentioned only one of the three plots of land owned by her husband Amitabh Bachchan in Barabanki district of UP. But now the UP government has decided to conduct another inquiry before deciding to proceed against Jaya Bachchan.

Gulzar Saab has actually visited SS’s home! That to me beats all his achievements, Aandhi included. He told me how she served him garam doodh because she knew he liked it. Gulzar Saab has been served milk by the legendary Suchitra Sen! That qualifies him for immortality. Now, when I speak to Suchitra Sen’s spirited granddaughter Raima I keep asking questions about Suchitra Sen. Poor girl. She must be wondering whether I contact her only to touch her grandmother’s life.

Jaya Bachchan’s membership of the Rajya Sabha has come under a cloud following a representation made by the Principal Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, R.P. Pandey, to the SSP of Lucknow to file a criminal case against her for allegedly concealing information in the affidavit submitted by her at the time of nomination on June 1, 2006.

The Samajwadi Party MP has been charged with mentioning only one of the three plots of land owned by her husband and film actor, Amitabh Bachchan, at Daulatpur village, Fatehpur tehsil in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh.

The inquiry, on a complaint lodged by an advocate of Barabanki, Amir Haider, with the Election Commission of India on June 28, 2006, was conducted by Mr. Pandey who was the Returning Officer of the Rajya Sabha by-election. .

State Additional Director-General of Police, Law and Order, Brij Lal, told journalists that legal opinion was being sought by the Lucknow SSP on the plea made by the Principal Secretary of the Vidhan Sabha. He denied that an FIR had been lodged against Ms. Bachchan.

Ms. Bachchan was elected unopposed in the Rajya Sabha by-election held in June 2006.

In an email interview with TOI, Bachchan was asked if he thought his passion for blogging could ebb with time.

"These are early days. I want to be able to have sufficient material everyday to remit. Shortly our website shall be operative and four other prominent members of the family will be a part of it. Naturally there will be the obvious dilution in interest. I shall wait and see.

We have asserted in the past that Bachchan will eventually run out of steam, if he is not afflicted with cervical radiculopathy, or a prolapsed disc, before that.

We are wondering who the fourth 'prominent member of the family' is, assuming that the 'father of the family' was not counting himself in a second time. The trouble is, it is not beyond Mr Bachchan to be referring to Samajwadi party leader Amar Singh!!
