Jaya Bachchan's Rajya Sabha seat maybe in danger after she has been accused of concealing information at the time of filing her nomination but it seems the UP government may just help Jaya Bachchan bail out of trouble. Despite the recommendation to file criminal charges, so far Mayawati's government has not registered an FIR against Jaya Bachchan.

Principal Secretary of the UP Vidhan Sabha R P Pandey had recommended action against Jaya Bachchan after a complaint was filed with the Election Commission. Jaya Bachchan is accused of hiding facts while filing her nomination papers for the 2006 Rajya Sabha by election. The complaint says Jaya Bachchan's nomination papers mentioned only one of the three plots of land owned by her husband Amitabh Bachchan in Barabanki district of UP. But now the UP government has decided to conduct another inquiry before deciding to proceed against Jaya Bachchan.

It is pretty much apparent that release dates of films starring Priyanka Chopra in the lead are being announced in quick succession. Apart from DOSTANA (for which Karan Johar recently confirmed plans for 14th November), even DRONA now sees a date announcement for itself. Though there were unconfirmed reports about the film's arrival for last so many weeks, finally the Abhishek Bachchan-Priyanka Chopra starrer is now all set for a 2nd October release.

Arriving under the banner of Rose Movies and Eros Entertainment, the film is produced by Shrishti Arya and directed by Goldie Behl who had made his directorial debut with BAS ITNA SA KHWAB HAI (Abhishek Bachchan, Sushmita Sen, Rani Mukherjee and Jackie Shroff). Now seven years after the release of his first film which wasn't quite successful at the box office, Goldie returns with DRONA which is touted to be a fantasy action thriller.

Three Bollywood stars, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Abhishek Bachchan, feature in Forbes magazine's list of 10 celebrities who are brand ambassadors for different mobile phone companies.

The three Indian actors are joined by football star David Beckham and tennis champion Maria Sharapova on the list released by the US magazine, otherwise known for its billionaire rankings.  Sharapova endorses Sony Ericsson phones and Beckham lends his name to the Motorola RAZR2 phone.

While Shah Rukh lends star power to mobile phones made by Nokia, Abhishek and Aamir endorse Motorola and Samsung phones respectively.

Gulzar Saab has actually visited SS’s home! That to me beats all his achievements, Aandhi included. He told me how she served him garam doodh because she knew he liked it. Gulzar Saab has been served milk by the legendary Suchitra Sen! That qualifies him for immortality. Now, when I speak to Suchitra Sen’s spirited granddaughter Raima I keep asking questions about Suchitra Sen. Poor girl. She must be wondering whether I contact her only to touch her grandmother’s life.

Indian firms have contracted imports of 50,000-60,000 bales of cotton in the week to Tuesday after the government set in motion steps to boost domestic supplies, a senior industry official said on Wednesday.Last Wednesday India scrapped import duty on raw cotton and withdrew export incentives to boost supplies and tame high prices. "Some import contracts have been made," P.D. Patodia, chairman of the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), told Reuters."About 50,000-60,000 bales may have been contracted for imports after the duties were scrapped."

The contracts were mostly for West African cotton done at about 78 cents to 79 cents per pound, said Sandip Jain, a Ahmedabad-based cotton buyer and exporter.Government measures have helped in increasing supplies and easing prices, Jain said.

"Cotton meant for exports are now being sold in the local markets, which has improved availability. Prices have also started to ease," said CITI's Patodia.

Though Amitabh Bachchan established AB Corp. a while ago, he never quite got to producing the hits he hoped for as his finances started to run low and he decided to put his production company on the backburner for a while. Now that he is once again a saleable actor along with his son, he has decided to produce R. Balki's Pa which stars himself along with Abhishek, Vidya Balan and Paresh Rawal.

Remember that Bachchan had already acted in Balki's Cheeni Kum last year and was throughly impressed with the outcome. The two have teamed up yet again for this upcoming film which will begin filming in February next year and wrap up in May.

The Bachchans' world tour 'Unforgettable', is already making waves in Trinidad and Tobago as advance bookings for the show this month have been overwhelming.Reports are that the event is expected to be a complete sell-out even though ticket prices are beyond the reach of the average fan.The star studded show that will kick off in Toronto, Canada, July 18 will reach Trinidad and Tobago July 20 at Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain. It is the only Caribbean venue to be included on the show's international itinerary.

VVIP tickets are being sold at $400, VIP ones for $250, special reserve tickets are priced at $160, reserved area at $90 and general admission at $50.Amitabh Bachchan along with son Abhishek Bachchan and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai will form the integral part of the team.
