Amitabh Bachchan act in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra Movie: About a decade after Aks, filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra will team up with his favourite actor again. Although Amitabh Bachchan was seen in his last movie, Delhi 6, it was only a cameo. This time, Mehra will only produce the currently untitled film, based on a father-daughter relationship. It will be helmed by newcomer, Sunil Pandey.
Mehra says, “Yes, we’ve offered the film to Amitji. He has accepted it.” However, he reveals that they are looking for a new face to play the daughter: “As soon as we finalise the girl, we’ll make an announcement.”
AmitabhMehra isn’t directing the film because the story is Pandey’s idea. “Sunil came to us with the idea of remaking the Belgian film, Ledereen Beroemd, meaning Everybody’s Famous (2000). He said that he’s keen to Indianise it. When he narrated his idea, I liked the interpretation,” says he, adding, “If you see Martin Scorcese’s The Departed (2006), you know it’s a remake of Infernal Affairs (2002). But it is Scorcese’s take. Similarly, our film is Sunil’s take on the Belgian film. It was also nominated for the Oscars.
His company, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra Pictures has acquired the rights from the producers of the original Belgian film to remake it. “The Indianised interpretation is being developed and is in its final stages. We’ll finish shooting this year and release it in 2012,” informs the filmmaker who is scouting for a younger face to play the protagonist for his next directorial venture, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The movie is a biopic on India’s best known athlete, Milkha Singh, popularly known as The Flying Sikh.
