Raavan or Raavanam, the next biggie from Mani Ratnam’s kitty invaded the theatres today (18th June) amidst huge murmurs and buzzing excitement.

The film delivered what it promised and the spectators were, before long, thrown into the jungles of South India where a ten headed monster Beera ruled mightily over his dominion of Laal Maati.

Though, the film’s central idea is themed at projecting the 10 facets of the male protagonist Beera aka Abhishek Bachchan.

The viewers were in for a double delight as they feasted on one of the finest performances of the ethereal beauty Aishwarya Rai who turned out to be the best part of the film.

In a dazzling display of her gritty acting mettle, former Miss World and Bollywood’s leading actress showcased her various facets.

And dished out a laudably transcendent performance which had shades of all the colours ranging from impregnable audaciousness to timid demureness to coy susceptibility to honest uprightness to unshakable invincibility to unassailable courage.

Though, Abhishek Bachchan stands up and delivers well, his essaying of Beera was nothing as extra-ordinary as a Gabbar Singh of Sholay or a Shaakal of Shaan. Though, Beera’s characterisation was well-sketched and lived up to the expectations,Aishwarya Rai’s surpassing of all plethoric expectations makes her overshadow her husband. In our opinion, it’s Aishwarya Rai who deserves to scream, ‘Dus Sar Waale’.
