Abhishek Bachchan and his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan may have been lucky with their first Mani Ratnam movie together ‘Guru’. However, the star couples have been given a real jolt in the recently released ‘Raavan’, by the media as well as their staunchest fans.
So, what is it that made the much looked forward to film flop at the box office? Was it the script, the characters the editing or some other reason? There are as many reasons being citied for the flop as there are people on this planet.

Innumerable reasons are being drawn by all for the flick to have sunk in its very first week of release. This was one flick with a great director, a great star cast, great locations, great music composer, great lyricist and ace photographers and editors. Then, what went wrong? Well, the only reason perhaps not explored for its bad response is that real life couples in bollywood have never been lucky at the box office.
For example, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor in ‘Kurbaan’, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in ‘Yuvraaj’, and now Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in ‘Raavan’.All these flicks have seen failures at the box office.
Such instances does bring out relevant questions like – Are real life couples jinxed when they come as the reel couple in a movie together? Or- Are real life romances difficult to be enacted on screen, and create a stalemate in chemistry between the couple? Etc. Well, jinx or no jinx, a flop is a flop, and to accept it with a smile is the best way to move ahead in life. We just hope all those couples who have a similar problem are listening too!
